Professional darts is a glamorous world of high stakes, big money, and adoring fans. But what if you're not cut out for the professional life? What if you're more interested in drinking beer and throwing darts with your mates? Then this is the book for you.

Ex-professional darts player Bob Anderson shares his cautionary tale of how not to make it in the world of professional darts. From the highs of playing on the biggest stage to the lows of getting relegated to the pub league, Bob has seen it all. And now he's here to share his wisdom with you.

So if you're thinking about turning professional, read this book first. It might just save you from making a big mistake.

Chapter 1: The Early Years

I was born in a small town in the north of England. My father was a coal miner and my mother was a stay-at-home mom. We weren't rich, but we were happy. I started playing darts when I was about 10 years old. I would play with my friends in the local pub. I wasn't very good at first, but I enjoyed it. I started to get better and better, and eventually I started to win tournaments.

When I was 16 years old, I won a junior tournament. This was a big win for me, and it gave me the confidence to start thinking about playing professionally. I turned professional when I was 18 years old. I was one of the youngest players on the circuit, and I was determined to make a name for myself.

Chapter 2: The Highs and Lows

I had some early success as a professional. I won a few tournaments and I even played in the World Championships. But I also had some tough times. I lost more matches than I won, and I struggled to make a living. There were times when I thought about giving up, but I always stuck with it.

In 2007, I had my best year as a professional. I won several tournaments and I finished in the top 10 in the world rankings. I was playing on the biggest stage, and I was making a good living. But my success didn't last. I started to lose more matches than I won, and I fell down the rankings. In 2012, I was relegated to the pub league.

Chapter 3: The Cautionary Tale

My story is a cautionary tale. It shows that even if you have talent, there is no guarantee of success in professional darts. There are many factors that can affect your career, such as your mental health, your financial situation, and your support network. If you're thinking about turning professional, it's important to be realistic about your chances of success. And if you're not prepared to make sacrifices, then it's probably not the right path for you.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't try to be a professional darts player. If you have the talent and the dedication, then go for it. But just be aware of the challenges that you will face. And if you do decide to turn professional, be prepared to make sacrifices. It's not an easy path, but it can be a rewarding one.
